9-Mile
Maximum depth: 22
m.
To get to this reef takes a long ride on the boat, and depending on surface conditions it can take as long as 45 minutes. We will only take divers to 9-Mile on flat, calm days. This reef can be extremely unpredictable because of Breaking Waters, and when the rest of the reefs are clean, the viz can be shocking.
Green Coral Tree
The famous green tree is on the outside edge of the reef and attracts large numbers of fish that give it the appearance of a living Christmas tree. The reef structure
contains many gullies, swim through's and drop offs which give all sorts of creatures great hideaways so a slow meander down the outside edge is most rewarding. We often encounter Grey Reef sharks and Potato Bass, who are extremely relaxed and friendly.
Breaking Waters (15m-6m)
Breaking waters, as the name implies, can only be dived on calm windless days, but shelters rays, turtles as well as numerous varieties of nudibranchs and moray eels.
