Gotham
Depth: 44 m
Gotham is part of the 5-Mile complex. Any experienced divers wanting to go and find sharks, this is the reef we take them to. The top of the ledge is at 34 m, 44 m is attained when we go over the edge of the reef to visit the cave. It gets it’s name from the Batman comics, where he is supposed to live in a cave under GothamCity.
Some of our local Dive Masters always ask us to tell them when we are going there, as they love the experience of getting narked. Our hit rate of seeing sharks on this dive is probably 1 : 3, and the sharks that we have found here have been Tiger, Zambezi (Bullshark) photo above, Hammerhead, leopard and grey reef sharks. And Colin is always hoping to see the top member on his wish list: an Oceanic White Tip, which also happens to be at (last time we spoke to him a couple of months ago) the top of Andy Cobb’s wish list.Also on dives here, we have seen Marlin and a Sail Fish.
The photo is of a Wahoo that came and spent an entire safety stop with us, from 15m all the way to the top at 5 m.
