Sodwana Bay is a small town on the north-east coast of South Africa, south of the Tropic of Capricorn, and hosts one of the most southerly and beautiful hard and soft coral reefs in the world. The closest harbour (Richards Bay) is more than 200 km away, there are no major rivers flowing into the ocean near Sodwana Bay so there are no sources of pollution to damage the reef.
The dive sites lie within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site, in a Marine Protected Area.
